NIAGARA FALLS – The federal government’s official Medicare website has given Schoellkopf Health Center, a nursing home owned by Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, a five-star rating, the highest available.

The website, Nursing Home Compare, calls facilities with five stars “much above average.” The site allows consumers to dig for comparative quality-of-care information about every Medicare and Medicaid-certified nursing home in the country, more than 15,000 of them.

The ratings are based on a health inspection, staffing and quality measures. In a news release, Schoellkopf Administrator John Durno credited a “collaborative effort between our nursing, dietary, therapy and other staff members” for the results.
