LOCKPORT – Cindy L. Ventresca of Niagara Falls was sentenced to five years’ probation Friday for possessing .16 ounces of powder cocaine in that city almost two years ago.
Ventresca, 42, of Woodlawn Avenue, had pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was arrested after an Aug. 31, 2012, traffic stop, and forfeited $508 in U.S. currency and $60 in Canadian money that police seized.
Ventresca was living in North Tonawanda at the time of the crime. Police raided her home there but found no drugs, defense attorney James J. Faso Jr. said. Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas said officers wouldn’t have been allowed to obtain a search warrant if Ventresca hadn’t been selling drugs, but Faso said Ventresca denies that.
