LOCKPORT – Michael A. Murphy Jr. of Niagara Falls accepted a misdemeanor plea in a domestic violence case Thursday, offered because the prosecutor said Murphy’s wife stopped cooperating with the investigation.

Murphy, 31, of 17th Street, could be sentenced to a year in jail by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas Feb. 20. He pleaded guilty to third-degree assault for twisting and dislocating the arm of his wife of four months in an April 28 incident.

Assistant District Attorney Lisa M. Baehre said the woman’s doctor thought she might have permanent nerve damage, but Baehre doesn’t know for sure because the woman isn’t communicating with her anymore.
