LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls man who already was facing a federal prison sentence on drug charges pleaded guilty to another drug felony Wednesday in Niagara County Court.
John L. Maye, 40, of Pierce Avenue, admitted to a reduced charge of attempted third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and was scheduled for sentencing Jan. 17 by County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III.
That’s the day after Maye is to face U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara for sentencing on violation of his supervised release on another drug charge. Defense attorney Anthony J. Lana said Maye will be sentenced to between 37 and 46 months on the federal charge.
He faces as long as eight years on the local charge, but Murphy said it will be served simultaneously with the federal sentence. Maye sold 0.82 ounces of cocaine Sept. 9 in the parking lot of a store on Hyde Park Boulevard in the Falls.
