The area’s congressional delegation is urging the Department of Homeland Security to use the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station as the home for some agency operations.

Rep. Chris Collins, R-Clarence; Rep. Brian Higgins, D-Buffalo; and Sens. Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, both Democrats, have sent a letter to the department suggesting Immigration & Customs Enforcement, Customs & Border Protection and some Coast Guard operations be located at the air base.

The federal lawmakers said the base offers a secure location, also noting that the closest Coast Guard response team is in Detroit.
