WHEATFIELD – The 11th annual Niagara-Sanborn Antique Show and Sale is planned Saturday and next Sunday at the Wheatfield American Legion Post, 6525 Ward Road.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. next Sunday.
About 16 antique dealers from Orchard Park to Medina are expected to participate, according to Bonnie Haskell, a curator for the Sanborn Area Historical Society, which is sponsoring the event.
The event also will feature a basket auction, with a drawing planned for 4 p.m. Sunday.
There is a $3 admission charge, and parking is free for the two-day event. Hot food will be available for purchase. The event is handicapped-accessible.
“It’s always a popular event,” said Haskell.
Glenn Wienke, another Historical Society member, said money raised at fundraisers such as this show helps finance events like “Christmas at the Farm,” held each December on the museum grounds in Sanborn, with free admission for the public and small gifts provided for area children. The group also hosts the annual Farm Festival in July at the Sanborn site.
“We’re also looking to buy a tractor,” he said. “All of these things take money.”
The Farm Museum, established in 1996, includes an artifact-filled barn, another building filled with display items from the area’s rich farming heritage, and the new community center. The group’s fundraisers also help maintain the site.
