YOUNGSTOWN – The American Revolution will come alive from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday as Old Fort Niagara celebrates its role in the nation’s fight of independence.
Battle reenactments, prisoner negotiations, concerts of fife and drum music, musket and cannon firings and living history programs will be staged both days.
Families with children will be able to take part in several programs, including a recruiting demonstration and a mock battle. Visitors touring camps set up by historic reenactors will learn about the war from the British, American and Native American perspectives. For a schedule of activities, visit www.oldfortniagara.org.
The fort, held by the British from 1759 to 1796, served as a base for British and Native American raids on frontier settlements in New York and Pennsylvania during the war.
