A nationally renowned exhibition of mummified remains from around the world will make its way to Buffalo this spring.
“Mummies of the World: The Exhibition” will open April 12 at the Buffalo Museum of Science, after having been displayed in nine cities and viewed by more than a million visitors across the country.
“When we first learned about the fascinating mummies in this exhibition, we knew we had to bring the exhibit to Western New York,” said Mark Mortenson, president of the museum.
“We expect visitors to travel from across the state of New York, southern Ontario, Pennsylvania and as far as Michigan to come face to face with mummies presented from so many distinctive region around the globe,” Mortenson added.
The breadth of the collection demonstrates that mummification – both through natural processes and intentional practices – has taken place all over the globe and throughout the ages.
