The McKean County Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice announced it will partner with the Visiting Nurse Association of Western New York to create a new home care agency.
The McKean County VNA is a department of Bradford Regional Medical Center in Pennsylvania. The new home care agency, to be known as VNA of Northwest Pa., will be jointly operated by the medical center and the VNA of Western New York, which is a part of Kaleida Health.
Various partnerships had been explored in efforts to keep the McKean County VNA financially healthy at a time of cutbacks in home health reimbursement, Timothy J. Finan, president and chief executive officer of Upper Allegheny Health System and Bradford Regional Medical Center, said in a statement.
He said VNA of Northwest PA will operate in McKean County and the surrounding region, as it has, and the 30 McKean County VNA & Hospice employees will transition directly to the new agency.
Office operations will continue to be based out of the current office on East Main Street in Bradford and Kathy Pascarella, currently the administrator of McKean County VNA and Hospice, will be the administrator of the new home healthcare organization, he said.
VNA of Northwest PA will be an organization of significantly larger scale that will provide access to a greater pool of resources, Finan said.
