Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and its planned successor on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus received a $1.8 million donation from a foundation based in Ransomville.

The Moore For Kids Foundation donation includes $800,000 for the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital, which is planned for the medical campus.

The donation will be used for a treatment area dedicated to children in the emergency department, known as Moore For Kids Express service. The service, planned for the new hospital, currently treats 20 to 30 patients in Women & Children’s Hospital who suffer from earaches, sore throats and other common ailments.

Some of the donation also will be used to build out the Family Resource Center in the new hospital, which will include a library, two multimedia rooms, a kitchen and large meeting areas.

In addition, the donation includes $1 million to establish an endowment for a program that provides support for patients, and their families, who are receiving care at Women & Children’s Hospital. The program, Stone’s Buddies, is named in memory of a former patient, Stone Filipovich.

Moore for Kids Foundation was founded by Robert and Kristi Moore, who have been involved with Stone’s Buddies for the past seven years.
