LOCKPORT – Mayor Anne E. McCaffrey said Sunday that city water crews still have not found the source of a water leak that has been causing water to flow into the foundation of the city’s new ice arena for at least a week.

McCaffrey said crews will turn off water lines on Market Street between Main and Union streets today in hopes of finding clues. McCaffrey said there should be no impact on business customers on Market Street because the main on the west side of the street will not be affected.

The leaking water has blocked work on the $13 million twin-rink complex at Market and Chestnut streets, which has been scheduled to open in mid-September. The city brought in a new high-tech “correlator,” or leak detector, last week in what has so far been a fruitless effort to find the broken pipe.
