LOCKPORT – James Sullivan, a longtime economic development figure in the Buffalo Niagara region, has been named as the first executive director of Lockport’s new Cornerstone Arena, which is to open next month.
Sullivan, a Lockport native, has been on the board of the not-for-profit Lockport Ice Arena and Sports Center. He has served as assistant community development director in Lockport, a project manager for the Erie County Industrial Development Agency, and community development director and executive director of the Lumber City Development Corp. in North Tonawanda. His new post is part-time.
Arena President John J. Ottaviano said, “Jim’s long and successful track record in the community makes him the ideal candidate to ensure that Cornerstone Arena reaches its full potential in the greater Lockport region.”
Sullivan said, “It has surprised me as much as everyone else that I find myself out of retirement and back in the game. This project is going to be a game-changer for downtown Lockport. I am very proud to be a part of it.”
