LOCKPORT – The city Planning Board approved a design change Monday for the new municipal parking lot being installed at the site of the city’s former parking ramp at Main and Pine streets.

The new two-level plan, suggested by Conestoga-Rovers & Associates, the city’s engineering contractor on the project, calls for driveways from Main and Pine streets and a total of 44 parking spaces.

The retaining wall separating the two levels already has been built by Empire Dismantlement of Grand Island, which won a $1.17 million contract and demolished the 38-year-old, 260-space ramp this fall. It had been closed for seven years because of crumbling concrete.
