LOCKPORT – Niagara History Center’s three Lockport sites will host a “Doors Open Niagara” weekend offering free admission on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the History Center, the Erie Canal Discovery Center and the Col. William Bond House.
The History Center headquarters includes five buildings at 215-229 Niagara St., which are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Exhibits in the buildings include Victorian, Civil War and historic toy exhibits; a Pioneer and Transportation building; Lockport business and manufacturing in the Kandt House; and the Washington Hunt Law Office.
The Erie Canal Discovery Center and Charles Rand Penney Gallery at 24 Church St., will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday through Sunday and features a virtual ride on the Erie Canal and a look at the life of historic Canal-era travelers.
The Col. William Bond House, 143 Ontario St., is open from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The Bond/Hawley house is the oldest brick house in Lockport and is restored and fully furnished as a family home of the 1825-1850 period.
