LOCKPORT – Shawn M. Moore and Uriel Mandujano Ortiz of Lockport High School are this year’s winners of the Rotary Club of Lockport’s college scholarships.
Shawn won an academic scholarship of $2,000 per year for four years for his studies in chemistry at SUNY Geneseo. He is the son of Matthew and Linda Moore of Lockport.
Uriel will receive a vocational scholarship of $2,000 for two years to study auto mechanics at Erie Community College. He is the son of Uriel Mandujano Lara and M.A. Carmen Ortiz Alvarez of Lockport.
The scholarships are awarded to graduating high school students living in the Lockport, Newfane or Starpoint school districts. The selection is based on scholastic achievement, character, leadership in school, extracurricular and community activities, and poise and presence in an interview with the scholarship committee.
The winners and parents will be honored at a June 17 Rotary Club luncheon in the Lockport Town and Country Club.
