LOCKPORT – The owner of a West Avenue and a Walnut Street restaurant faces misdemeanor charges for allegedly punching and attempting to choke a young woman. But the girl’s father has gone to social media trying to have authorities increase the charges to attempted murder and is encouraging a boycott of the owner’s restaurants.
Dominick J. DeFlippo, 44, of South New York Street, the owner of DeFlippo’s and the Tuscarora Club, was charged with third-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing last week. He appeared with his attorney Angelo DiMillo on Monday and has been released on $250 bail. A return court date was set for Nov. 18.
Police have not released the name or relationship of DeFlippo and the 26-year-old woman, who lives at the same South New York Street address, but the girl’s father, a local actor and author, Jeffrey J. Juliana, also known under his pen name as Geoffrey Giuliano, has posted an open letter to the police on Facebook which says his daughter Avalon O. Juliana has suffered traumatic brain damage in “a violent and unprovoked attack.”
