LOCKPORT – A man who is serving two to four years in state prison for beating a Lockport man senseless in December 2012 has been indicted in connection with a Jan. 22 stabbing.

Chad A. Michalak, 33, of Elmwood Avenue, Lockport, is due to be brought from Elmira Correctional Facility Aug. 7 for arraignment in Niagara County Court on charges of first-degree assault, third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing, according to a court document filed Tuesday.

On May 21, the day he was sentenced in the beating case, Michalak rejected a chance to plead guilty to second-degree assault in the stabbing of John Cuillo in a parking lot on Locust Street. That would have limited Michalak’s additional prison time in that case to seven years; the maximum for first-degree assault is 25 years.
