LOCKPORT – Two teachers and three speech pathologists are the employees who would be laid off if the proposed Lockport City School District budget is passed by the voters, a district official confirmed Thursday.

Lisa Schrader, assistant superintendent for personnel, said the teachers are a special education teacher and a music teacher. The five employees were told of their fate Thursday, a day after the School Board passed the budget for voters’ consideration May 20.

The $86.3 million spending plan raises the tax levy by 2.26 percent, which is the district’s tax cap this year, and also eliminates six jobs whose incumbents are retiring: two secondary teachers, a library media specialist and three teacher aides. Two other teachers would be cut from full-time to part-time.
