LOCKPORT – The members of the Lockport Fire Department will host a public celebration of the department’s 100th anniversary from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday in Outwater Park.

Although Lockport had a volunteer fire company from its earliest days, the paid city Fire Department was founded in May 1914.

The free event, called Community Day, will include a cookout and picnic, as well as a display of fire trucks and demonstrations including a fire hose and a house that simulates smoke, to teach children what to do in case of a house fire.
