LOCKPORT – A crack dealer said he intends to move to South Carolina after he finishes the one-year jail sentence Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III imposed on him Thursday.
John J. Davis, 33, of Lincoln Avenue, had pleaded guilty to fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance for selling crack cocaine to police informants in the City of Lockport twice in the summer of 2012.
Davis, who has been behind bars since March for violating parole on another drug-selling charge, said his wife has obtained a job at an auto plant in South Carolina, and he intends to join her.
Defense attorney Anthony J. Lana said, “I think the best thing for Niagara County law enforcement and Mr. Davis is for him to move to South Carolina and start fresh.”
In another drug case Thursday, County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas set sentencing Oct. 3 for Marquis A. Prather, 31, of Chilton Avenue, Niagara Falls, who pleaded guilty to seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for possessing cocaine July 30 during a traffic stop in the Falls.
