LOCKPORT – A man who robbed three Lockport gas stations in one day was sentenced Tuesday by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas to 10 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision.
Todd M. Delavalle Jr., 24, of Robinson Road, Lockport, had pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted first-degree robbery to settle all three Feb. 23 cases: knifepoint robberies at the NOCO, Sunoco and Crosby’s stations.
“He ingested large quantities of whatever drugs he could get his hands on,” Assistant Public Defender Michael E. Benedict said.
He added that Delavalle spent some time in solitary confinement in the County Jail, resulting in “problems with his mental stability.”
Farkas was angered by a letter from Delavalle in which he blamed his drug problems on a chaotic, abusive home life during his childhood. Farkas told the robber’s parents, who were in the courtroom, “You should be standing here instead of him if even half of what he told me in this letter is true.”
