LEWISTON – A stray Puggle that had slipped her collar and was on the run for several months before being rescued will be a special guest at the August volunteer meeting of the Heart of Niagara, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 13 in First Presbyteran Church, 505 Cayuga St.

“Hope” had been running in the woods in the Lewiston/Ransomville area for several months in the late fall of last year. The rescue mobilized volunteers and professionals and brought Hope to safety in early spring.

She survived the long winter outside, continues to make positive strides and is adjusting well. Volunteers will be able to visit with Hope and also enjoy an ice cream social during the meeting which is open to the public. New volunteers are always welcome.
