LEWISTON – A contractor doing work on West Street in Sanborn called Niagara County sheriff’s deputies after he said he was approached by the Lewiston Highway Superintendent and told he wasn’t wanted there.

Peter Hartung, the owner of Fairway Contracting, said Town Highway Superintendent Doug Janese told him Tuesday that if his company attempted to do any work on West Street he would remove his equipment.

Hartung said he called deputies over the concern that some of his property might be damaged or removed.

Janese spoke to sheriff’s deputies and admitted that he was upset with some of the work that was being completed in the town, but said he would not remove any of Fairway Contracting’s equipment.

Deputies told Janese that if he had any complaints about Fairway Contracting, he should take them up with the Lewiston Town Board.
