Watson should blame parents and students
Rod Watson’s July 11 500-word column included not one word on Superintendent Pamela C. Brown’s real nemesis, i.e., a failing Buffalo education system and all that entails. Buffalo has a large number of parents and students who don’t give a damn about education. To prove this, Buffalo students have a very high truancy rate, a 47 percent graduation rate and a 23 percent graduation rate among black male students. That is truly a disgrace!
Until the parents and students look into the mirror and recognize the real problem – them – nothing will change. Using scapegoats such as the superintendent or a board member won’t fix a thing.
Please devote 500 words on where the blame actually lies – apathetic parents and students – and stop blaming others for their failures.
