Frontier interim chief should cut his own salary
In the July 26 News, I read that the Frontier School District has hired an interim superintendent – retired Lackawanna School Superintendent Paul G. Hashem.
It’s no news that our school systems are lacking in funds to maintain sports and music programs.
In addition, teachers are being let go and class sizes are increasing. However, in spite of this insufficient cash to fund services and teachers’ salaries, we can pay an interim superintendent $625 per day, more than many people make in a week.
Hashem stated he wants to get up to speed on the 2013-14 budget, and determine whether we need to look at cutting back now, prior to fall. I hope one of the cuts will be to his salary.
