Anthem should highlight our virtues, not fighting

With the birthday of the nation at hand, we will hear our national anthem sung numerous times today. Not so much “My Country Tis of Thee” or “America the Beautiful” or other songs expounding on the beauty or virtues of this great country. Instead we hear a poem set to the music of a drinking song, promoting the victory of a battle in the War of 1812 with “bombs bursting in air” and war. Is that what this country is all about? Think about it.
