Albany leaders seem content to concentrate on themselves
I read the story on the June 20 News front page, “Legislature session comes up far short.” In two weeks, the Legislature passed 550 bills, five times the number approved from Jan. 8 through June 3. Two bills stuck out: legislation on the sale of sparklers and limiting the brightness level of outdoor lights on state buildings. That’s all they have to do? What about Jan. 8 through June 3? What was done in those six months? I guess you can figure that out.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo was quoted as saying the 2014 session was “really extraordinary in many, many ways. We got a lot of important work done at a difficult time.” If only these people knew what a “difficult time” meant, other than getting re-elected.
