Lancaster police are awaiting the results of lab tests linked to the deaths of a 23-year-old man and his 28-year-old girlfriend in a Lancaster motel, officials told The Buffalo News tonight.
Just after noon Sunday the two bodies were found in a guest room at the Motel 6 at 52 Freeman Drive, Lancaster. They were discovered shortly after police received calls of concern from relatives of the male victim.
Refusing to release the names of the two dead persons, police officials confirmed that they found the car of the male victim in the parking lot of the motel and confirmed the man had checked into a room there Friday afternoon.
After the two bodies were found Sunday, Lancaster police detectives saw in the motel room drug packaging and drug paraphernalia that have been sent to the Erie County Central Police Services Laboratory for testing.
As of this evening the exact causes of death were still under investigation but detectives suspect the cause is what police described in a statement as “a drug overdose as a result of intravenous use of opiates.”
