A routine search of student lockers and public areas at Lancaster Middle School this morning turned up no illegal drugs, the Lancaster Police Department reported.
Lancaster Police and K-9 units from other area police agencies were used during the narcotics search. Students and staff remained in lockdown throughout the search.
The search was done at the request of school administration, police said in a post on the department’s Facebook page.
Pat Burgio, a spokeswoman for the district, called the search routine and said the district has had a long-standing collaboration with Lancaster police as part of the district’s safety team.
