A federal grand jury has returned a four-count indictment charging a Lackawanna woman with health care fraud and identity theft.

Georgia Bowen, 38, a native and citizen of Jamaica, is accused of illegally receiving $19,000 in Medicaid benefits she was not entitled to receive.

Assistant United States Attorney John E. Rogowski said Bowen received the benefits after she was sentenced to two years in prison in connection with her earlier use of $13,000 in Medicaid benefits.

Bowen’s indictment is the result of an investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Social Security Administration.
