The arrest of three Lackawanna man charged by a federal grand jury with cocaine trafficking charges carrying possible federal prison terms of up to 40 years upon conviction were announced today by Capt. Joseph Leo, chief of detectives of the Lackawanna Police Department.
Taken into custody by Lackawanna narcotics officers with assistance of the Erie County Sheriff’s narcotics units were Andre Jones, 26; Carvis McCutcheon Jr., 33 and Kenneth Sweat, 25.
Leo said the three suspects are the first individuals charged in what is a continuing investigation that began about a year ago into the trafficking of cocaine and crack cocaine in Buffalo and Lackawanna. Leo said “more arrests are expected” but he refused to disclose aspects of the continuing investigation.
The three suspects are seized under secret indictment warrants by Lackawanna Narcotics Lt. Aaron Brennan and Officers Chuck Jaworski, Jason Szentesy, Matt Gorczyca and Joe Milkowski. Leo said the evidence against the three suspects was presented to a federal grand jury by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jack Alsup who continues to work on the investigation. He said Officer Milkowski is working with the U.S. DEA on the investigation.
