A 42-year-old Kenmore woman was killed early Sunday in an off-road accident as she and her companions tried to free a Jeep that had gotten stuck while they were “mudding” in the town of Eagle, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office reported today.
Deputies and medics were called to the woods off of Horton Road about 3:30 a.m. The 911 caller said that Sherrie Green was breathing but unresponsive and that friends were taking her to the roadway.
Investigators determined that Green and a group of friends had been off-roading on private property in three Jeeps when one of the vehicles got stuck in deep mud. The friends got out and were trying to free the vehicle with a winch when one of the Jeeps hit Green, deputies said. She was rushed to Wyoming County Community Hospital where she died a short time later.
Deputies said there were no signs of a crime and no charges are anticipated at this time.
