One of the only wooden playgrounds still standing is in the Village of Hamburg, and the future of that local landmark and other parks and recreation in the village will be discussed at a public forum Thursday.

“We’re one of the only ones left in this area, and the country as well,” said Recreation Director Josh Haeick. “A lot of people look at it as a center piece.”

The Recreation Department and the Recreation Commission are sponsoring the forum to seek public input at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Hamburg Youth Center, 200 Prospect Ave. There will be an emphasis on the future of village parks and the department’s strategic plan, including Legion Field and the wooden playground between Highland and Prospect avenues near the Community Center.
