Hamburg will receive a state Library Construction grant of nearly $450,000 for the addition onto the Hamburg Public Library on Buffalo Street.
Funding for the competitive grant was included in this year’s state budget, said Sen. Mark Grisanti, R-Buffalo, and Assemblyman Sean Ryan, D-Buffalo.
“The addition and redesign of the facility is going to change the way Hamburg residents and visitors use their library,” Grisanti said.
“The new state-of-the-art facility will include critical upgrades that will be welcome news to library patrons with disabilities,” added Ryan.
That brings the total to more than $700,000 in library construction grants the town has received for the improvements to the library.
The 6,590 square-foot addition to the library will meet accessibility needs. The $2.69 million project also will create a meeting space and coffee shop, and increase capacity to meet patron needs for seating, computer use and research.
