There’s nothing like rockin’ for the undies.

That’s right – not the oldies, but undies, as “Undies Rock!” returns to Hamburg.

It may seem like a made-up cause, but it’s not. While many people donate pants and shirts, coats and even shoes to the needy, there’s one thing that doesn’t get tossed in the collection bin: underwear.

Hamburg musician Justin Shuttleworth has organized Undies Rock, a band night to raise money for the purchase of new underwear for local clothing shelters.

The funds raised will support one of the projects of Churches in Action, which was founded in Buffalo in 1996: collecting new underwear and other personal care items for those in need. Undies Sunday will be held at some area churches in September.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. July 16 at Braymiller’s Lanes, 39 Buffalo St., Hamburg for the second annual Undies Rock, which will feature Jess Chizuk, The Divisions and Shuttleworth.

Last year Shuttleworth and friends raised $900 for the cause.
