Athletes expected to play in the Gus Macker tournament have until next Tuesday to register for transportation assistance through True Bethel Baptist Church.
The annual competition, for years held in downtown Buffalo, is being held this year at Darien Lake Theme Park, creating a hardship for some inner-city players.
True Bethel Baptist Church pastor and Buffalo Common Council President Darius G. Pridgen recently announced that he will provide transportation for those players to participate in the three-on-three tournament, July 19 and 20.
Request forms are available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at True Bethel Baptist Church, 907 E. Ferry, until Tuesday. Players must be younger than 18 and accompanied by an adult. True Bethel is providing the service in collaboration with First Student.
