The Taste of Grand Island Fall Festival will take place Saturday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Grand Island Boulevard between Whitehaven and Baseline Roads.

Also this week:
• The Grand Island Town Board will meet Monday at 8 a.m., Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., Thursday at 8 a.m. and Friday at 8 a.m. for workshop meetings. All meetings will take place at Town Hall, 2255 Baseline Road.
• Parents will get the rare chance to walk in their middle school student’s shoes this week.
The Veronica E. Connor Middle School will hold its open house Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the school, 1100 Ransom Road.
Parents and guardians should ask their student for the room number of their first class and report there at 6 p.m. They will follow their child’s “day 1” schedule throughout the evening, meeting each teacher and touring the school. The PTA will serve refreshments in the cafeteria. The event is for adults only.
• The Grand Island Memorial Library will hold a free computer class for adults Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. about how to use Ancestry.com to research one’s genealogy. Registration and a valid library card are required. Call 773-7124.
