The Grand Island Fire Company was honored by town, county and state government officials as Fire Chief Matt Osinski and Greg Butcher, chairman of the organization’s board of directors, and the entire company celebrated its 76th anniversary Saturday.

Butcher said the company has kept pace with increasing needs through recruitment and increasing memberships, taking in six “rookies” this year. “The township is in very good hands.” thanks to the fire company, Butcher said. During the ceremonies Fire Company President Chuck Picone gratefully accepted from Nicole Butcher, president of the company’s Ladies Auxiliary, a check for $500 to support future company needs.
