LEROY – After a two-week wait, attorney Michael T. Welsh won a town justice seat by the narrowest of margins: one vote.

Welsh trailed Republican Scott McCumiskey by three votes Election Night but took an 817 to 816 lead with absentee ballots.

The Genesee County Board of Elections certified the results Monday after the deadline for military ballots. None were received.

Welsh, a Democrat, served for twenty years on the County Legislature, representing the village and town of LeRoy.
