BATAVIA – The Genesee County Chamber of Commerce will hold its 42nd annual awards ceremony following a reception at the Clarion Hotel, Park Road, Town of Batavia, on Saturday, Feb. 22.
To be honored are: Service Business of the Year, Alex’s Place, a popular ribs restaurant in Batavia; Retail Business of the Year, Adam Miller Toys, a nearly century-old bike shop in Batavia; Agricultural Business of the Year, Bonduelle USA of Bergen and Oakfield, a vegetable food processor and Special Service Recognition of the Year, Bergen Business and Civic Association, a community booster.
Cited as Geneseeans of the Year are Laurie Mastin of Pavilion, a National Grid consumer representative, and Timothy M. Adams of Stafford, a long-time 4-H volunteer.
A special award, the Wolcott J. Humphrey III Excellence in Leadership, will go to Mary Pat Hancock, a Town of Batavia resident who served on the County Legislature for more than 20 years, nearly half as chairwoman. She retired last year.
The event will be the first for new chamber president Thomas R. Turnbull who succeeded Lynn N. Freeman last year.
