BATAVIA – Genesee Community College invites people considering careers in food processing to learn about a new associates degree from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 4 at the Batavia campus, 1 College Road.

The new food technology degree in applied science is intended to meet an increasing demand for skilled workers in the local food manufacturing industry, which includes more than 600 regional businesses, the school said.

The event is intended for prospective students, alumni and the curious. Representatives will be available from Kraft, Lactalis American, Perry’s Ice Cream and Muller Quaker Dairy, one of the country’s largest yogurt firms.
