A former fundraiser for the University at Buffalo has been named vice president for development at Villa Maria College.
Thomas P. Honan will oversee fundraising, external affairs and alumni engagement for the college of about 500 students on Pine Ridge Road in Cheektowaga.
“Thomas Honan is an experienced professional with an extensive background in higher education development and non-profit advancement,” Sister Marcella Marie Garus, president of Villa Maria College, said in written announcement to the campus on Wednesday.
Honan served for six years as director of corporate and foundation relations for UB, helping to secure grants for capital projects, new programs, research and scholarships. Prior to UB, he was vice president for institutional advancement at Hilbert College. He also held leadership positions at arts and cultural organizations throughout the state including the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, Artpark and the Kenan Center in Lockport.
