Antwan Green, 32, the last of the five members of a Buffalo check-kiting gang facing trial linked to the $367,000 in losses the group inflicted on local banks, pleaded guilty Thursday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Leslie G. Foschio. When sentenced, Green faces a prison term of up to 30 years and a fine of up to $ 1 million for conspiracy to commit bank fraud.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Russell T. Ippolito Jr. said Green and his four previously convicted cohorts opened bank accounts locally and deposited large checks written on other bank accounts that all had insufficient funds or had been closed. Before the local banks determined the checks had bounced, Green and his co-conspirators allegedly withdrew small amounts from the check, ending up sharing more than $367,000 in stolen funds. Green will be sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny in several months.
