Statler Career Center, a national program for Olmsted Center for Sight, provides individuals who are blind, visually impaired or physically disabled with the right tools to launch successful careers in customer service, contact center and hospitality industries. The center has openings for students for the class beginning April 30. The program provides in-depth skills, training and job-preparation services to working-age adults who are sight-impaired or physically disabled and interested in pursuing permanent employment. Community Music School offers adaptive one-on-one lessons in piano, voice, guitar, flute and drums for people of all ages with disabilities. The school also offers one-on-one music therapy sessions for people of all ages with a variety of diagnoses, such as neurological disorders, developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury, dementia, personality disorders and depression. Music therapy group classes will be offered for children ages 3 to 5 and ages 6 to 12 to promote friendship and social skills. All lessons and classes are taught by a board-certified music therapist. Mental Health Association in Niagara County is offering a free art class at 5:30 p.m. April 29 at its facility, located at 36 Pine St., Lockport. The forum is presented by the Highland Community Revitalization Committee.
