Aspire of Western New York and members of their iXpress art program present a new art showing, “Nook   Stories on the Wall,” running through March 31 at Merge Restaurant, 439 Delaware Ave. Opening reception with music and poetry readings by iXpress members will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the restaurant. The exhibit features mixed-media sculptural boxes containing a display of art, prose and poetry. iXpress, a local community of artists with developmental disabilities, turned ordinary boxes into personal and complex miniature scenes. The Lancaster Recovery and Treatment Center, an outpatient service of the Buffalo Psychiatric Center located at 525 Pavement Road, Lancaster, provides mental health services to individuals 18 years old and older. A multidisciplinary approach to treatment is used, providing every client with both a therapist and a psychiatrist. Medicare and Medicaid insurance plans are accepted. Also, clients are accepted on a sliding scale basis, regardless of their ability to pay. Appointments can be made by calling 684-2662.

The Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at The Pines Healthcare Rehabilitation Center, Machias Campus. Independent Living of Niagara County offers an anger management support group meeting for re-entry into the community from incarceration, as well as for relationship, behavioral and emotional issues from 6 to 7 p.m. Mondays at their facility located at 746 Portage Road, Niagara Falls. The group has worked in cooperation with various courts, probation, parole, employers and persons who voluntarily seek help for themselves. For information, call 284-4131.

The Stroke Support Group sponsored by the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Kaleida Health for stroke survivors, caregivers, family members and friends, will meet from 2:30 to 4 p.m. every second Thursday of the month at St. Jude’s Center, 760 Ellicott St. It is designed to be a place for fun, support, education and to share ideas and resources in an open environment.
