An early Christmas gift went out to the owners of several local businesses after the Angola Village Board Monday night agreed to keep the community’s holiday lights up through January.
Mayor Howard “Hub” Frawley told the board he was approached recently by several Main Street businesses asking if the lights could remain up past Jan. 5, because they spruce up the business district.
During its November meeting, the board instructed the Village Department of Public Works to remove the holiday lights on Jan. 5.
Monday, Frawley asked for board members’ input on the appropriateness of leaving the holiday lights, including snowflakes, up longer than originally planned.
“It’s OK with me,” said Trustee Carole Kin, noting that with snow in the forecast, she believes the lights enhance the look of the business district.
Board members agreed it was a good idea, so the Village of Angola will keep all of its holiday lights up longer this year.
“We’ll leave them all up through the end of January,” Frawley added.
