Erie County Sheriff’s Office patrols have been beefed up at county parks to ensure public safety during the summer.
The office’s Mounted Division, all-terrain vehicle and marine units are involved in the effort.
“Erie County’s parks are meant for relaxation, family fun, and the opportunity to enjoy time surrounded by natural beauty,” County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz said at a news conference last week. “We have invested millions of dollars in improvements in our parks across the county, we will continue to work to make them even better, and the last thing any of us wants to see is vandalism or mischief destroying the park going experience for others.”
• Fitness in the Parks, free exercise classes offered by YMCA Buffalo Niagara, continues through the end of August. Chestnut Ridge Park in Orchard Park is hosting a Zumba class from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday outside of the casino. Ellicott Creek Park, in the Town of Tonawanda, will feature cardio kickboxing from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Shelter 14.
