The first of five scheduled free clinics to immunize pets against rabies will be held Wednesday in Buffalo.
The clinic will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at Niagara Frontier Post 1041, American Legion, 533 Amherst St.
Dogs, cats and ferrets can get immunized at the clinics, which are sponsored by the county’s Health Department, in association with the Niagara Frontier Veterinary Society and the SPCA Serving Erie County.

• “Passports on the Move” outreach program, sponsored by the County Clerk’s Office, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday outside Macy’s at Walden Galleria Mall in Cheektowaga. Applicants can apply for a passport card, passport book or both. Appointments are required; call the clerk’s office at 858-8866. Applications, a list of required documents and a schedule of fees is available at www.erie.gov/passports.
• A Home Energy Assistance Program [HEAP] Cooling Assistance Program has been opened by the county’s Department of Social Services. Under the federally-funded program, eligible households will receive installation of one window air conditioner. Call the HEAP Application Request Line at 858-1969 for an application package.
