PUSH Green, PUSH’s energy efficiency division, said Thursday it has retrofitted more than 100 homes in Erie County, while conducting 300 free residential audits and creating 20 weatherization jobs.
The program, which uses accredited home performance contractors, seeks to improve home comfort, lower energy bills and reduce energy use.
It was created under the Green Jobs Green New York legislation designed to reduce the state’s carbon footprint and create green jobs.
“Rebuilding Buffalo takes downtown development, but it also takes neighborhood development,” said Clarke Gocker, PUSH Buffalo’s director of workforce initiatives.
“You see the cranes down here every day, but our city also needs a housing stock that is energy efficient and affordable for families.”
