A North Buffalo man who robbed an Amherst bank of nearly $4,000 after threatening to blow it up if the teller didn’t give him the money has pleaded guilty to third-degree robbery.
Todd Evchich, 43, of Colvin Avenue, admitted telling the employee at the M&T Bank branch at 1205 Niagara Falls Blvd. on Oct. 10 that he would detonate C-4 plastic explosives if he wasn’t given the money.
He fled with the cash but was quickly caught by police nearby.
Evchich, a second-felony offender, faces 3½ to seven years in prison when he is sentenced March 10 by Erie County Judge Michael F. Pietruszka, according to District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III.
